The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the College of Engineering – Al-Nahrain University, under the kind patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Iyad Murad Takhakh, organized a training workshop entitled:
“Fundamentals of 3D Printing.”
The workshop was delivered by Dr. Safa Laith Keelan, a faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. It included a detailed explanation of the types of 3D printers available in the department’s laboratories, their operating mechanisms, and the materials used in printing processes, along with their applications in the medical field. The workshop also highlighted the most common errors in 3D printing and methods to avoid them.
The workshop aimed to develop the practical skills of fifth-stage students and enable them to use 3D printing technologies in designing and manufacturing medical models required for their graduation projects, thereby enhancing the applied and innovative aspects of their engineering research.
At the conclusion of the workshop, students were given the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion, emphasizing the importance of such workshops in supporting their learning and developing their skills in modern technologies.
