As part of the skills development series, a lecture titled "Two-Stroke and Four-Stroke UAV Engines" was delivered by Dr. Suhaib Jawad Kadhim on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, to second-year students. This workshop focused on studying drone engines in terms of their basic types and operating mechanisms. It explained two-stroke engines, which are characterized by their light weight and simple construction, versus four-stroke engines, which are characterized by higher efficiency, lower fuel consumption, and a longer operational lifespan. The workshop also covered the main engine components, such as the piston, intake and exhaust valves, spark plug, and thrust generation mechanism. Furthermore, it demonstrated the operating cycle of each engine type practically and compared them in terms of performance, efficiency, and applications. The workshop also reviewed the uses of these engines in various fields, such as aerial photography, agriculture, surveying, and reconnaissance, with the aim of enabling students to understand the engineering principles for selecting the appropriate engine based on the nature of the application.
